Position Summary
The Ophthalmic Technician assists the doctors and staff with
patient care through performing accurate technical workups and
special testing. They work alongside doctors to help assist with
surgical procedures, process pharmacy requests, and provides
patient correspondence.

- Provide a world-class patient experience - - - -
- Perform accurate technical workups and special testing on
patients including manual refractions, lensometry, keratometry,
tonometry, visual fields, optical coherence tomography, muscle
testing, fundus photos, slit lamp exams, pupil exams, topography,
etc. - - - -
- Scribe for doctors - - - -
- Assist with surgical procedures - - - -
- Process pharmacy requests - - - -
- Provide patient correspondence and feedback - - - -
- Answer phones and greet patients and guests with warmth and
excitement - - - -
- Schedule follow up appointments via our Electronic Medical
Records (EMR) system and patient portal - - - -
- Assist with patient checking in and out the patients as needed
- - - -
- Update patient records - - - -
- Respond to voicemails and email requests - - - -
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to all HIPAA
regulations and guidelinesPosition requires long periods of
sitting, typing, speaking and standing as well as the ability to
lift up to 25 lbs.
Qualifications & Skills
As our medical practice is fast-paced and highly electronic,
qualified candidates must be capable of quickly adapting to our
technology & processes, have superior communication skills and
maintain a high level of confidentiality with all patient
information and interactions. Qualified candidates will thrive in a
highly supportive and collaborative team environment where learning

- Minimumof one-year experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
preferred. - - - -
- HS Diploma or equivalentrequired. - - - -
- COA or COT preferred. - - - -
- Experience with EMA or any EMR/Practice Management system
strongly preferred. - - - -
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. - - - -
- Must be prompt, relationship oriented, detail focused,
efficient, able to multi-task and work effectively with a variety
of patients and staff. - - - -
- Experience with refractive and IOL sales also a plus.
