Job Description:
The Coder II will assign ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes and Evaluation & Management Levels, as appropriate, and abstracts pertinent information from patient records. Maintain coding productivity per type of account coded. Successful candidate will have a minimum of one (1) years of healthcare coding experience, with preference for ICD-10 training certificate. Must hold at least one of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H. Requires an understanding of computer applications and knowledge of automated encoder system. Must have knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical/surgical/pharmacological/patient care documentation terminology, ICD-9-CM, CPT/HCPCS and Evaluation and Management codes. Must have knowledge of HCPCS coding systems and Diagnostic-Related Groups, APC, and be able to communicate effectively and excellent customer service skills. Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
