Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: MS Tele Oncology - Telemetry Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights, including 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, and work during 2 out of 3 major holidays Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required for Submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS (Chemo certification is a plus) Must-Have: Level I Trauma experience Job Description: - This position is for an RN specializing in MS Tele Oncology, located in an oncology acute setting with a 32-bed capacity. - Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with two attempts allowed. - All nurses will complete a SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Passing this lab is necessary, as maintaining a sterile field is a critical skill. - The job includes educational sessions on lifts, restraints, and wound care to accommodate facility-specific policies and equipment. - Patient ratios are maintained at 1:4, and the unit is supported by a charge nurse with a light patient assignment and two PCTs during both day and night shifts. - Nurses are required to interpret EKGs using a Phillips telemetry system. - The unit handles 85% oncology patients, with the remaining 15% being general telemetry/medical-surgical cases. - The role involves floating to other MedSurg/Tele units when needed and working with a Cerner EMR system. - RT and pharmacy services are available 24/7, but no hospitalist or intensivist is in-house. - Navy scrubs are required as the uniform color. - Floor-specific orientation entails two days of on-floor training. - The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. Note: Candidates should ensure natural hair color, and no facial piercings, and men must be clean-shaven for the fit test.
