(GRCT) organization provides engineering solutions that support
acceleration of the strategies of the company's Privacy, Audit,
Risk, and Compliance lines of business. Our platforms and products
aim to enhance the efficiency & effectiveness of control &
compliance at American Express. We play a critical role in
protecting the company by offering solutions to effectively
predict/identify, measure, monitor, and report on risk management
within a broad set of global regulations and company policies.We
use various technologies and data from across American Express to
solve problems like:
- Probability that a new account is being opened for money
laundering
- If an individual or corporate account is sanctioned and should
not be allowed to open an account
- How a customer wants their data to be used - Data Privacy
- Is the person conducting certain transactions a government
official with the potential to be bribed?The Vice President of
Financial Crimes Risk Management Tech requires a results-oriented
Technology Leader to transform operations for multiple portfolios.
This person should have a strong background in modern application
development and technology operations for platforms with diverse
tech stacks. The successful candidate will lead a team of
Engineering Directors to apply a software engineering mentality and
continuous improvement practices to provide full-stack operations
support for automation and modernization journey.This leader will
lead development and delivery of exciting and new platforms in the
Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) space, prioritizing the
reuse of Enterprise frameworks in new and unique ways. American
Express is known for customer service; the goal of the new
platforms is to provide the same world-class user experience for
our internal colleague customers that we provide to our external
customers every day!Key Responsibilities:
- Technology Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated engineers to
design, develop, and maintain FCRM platforms. Provide guidance,
mentorship, and strategic direction to ensure delivery of scalable,
reliable, and performant solutions.
- Platform Development and Optimization: Drive the optimization
of FCRM platforms within established budgets for application
delivery and platform health. Implement standard processes for
performance, security, and scalability in compliance with industry
regulations and frameworks. Identify areas for improvement and
drive continuous enhancement of system performance.
- Collaboration and Integration: Work closely across teams,
including product management to integrate FCRM platforms with
Enterprise systems, APIs, and data sources, handle shifting
priorities and act as key contact for issue resolution.
- Team Development and Management: Cultivate an innovative team
spirit, excellence, and continuous learning within the engineering
team. Provide leadership in talent acquisition, skill development,
and performance management to build a successful engineering
organization.Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering and 12+ years
of experience in related fields
- Shown expertise in building and optimizing large-scale,
data-intensive platforms and orchestrating migrations from legacy
platforms
- Experience delivering large scale multiyear technology
transformations
- People leadership experience. An ability to evaluate team
structures and optimize them against delivery goals and
objectivesPreferred Skills:
- Familiarity with FCRM tools and platforms, such as risk rating,
sanctions screening, fraud and anti-corruption systems, and
experience in their integration with custom engineering
solutions
- Experience in driving engineering excellence in the areas of
coding standards, code reviews, testing practices, CI/CD pipelines,
and adoption of DevOps standard processes
- Understanding of regulatory challenges related to FCRM and
their impact on technology platformsEmployment eligibility to work
with American Express in the U.S is required as the company will
not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.Salary Range:
$210,000.00 to $300,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if
applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary
range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your
