Job Description:
Position Summary: The Senior Director of Advancement is
responsible for building, planning, implementing, and analyzing
fund development and engagement activities that continue to expand
and sustain GSACPC's philanthropic revenue. They cultivate and
solicit donors, direct the council's grant initiatives, drive
giving programs, and must build a culture of philanthropy within
the organization. The Senior Director leads a team of fundraising
professionals and provides care to staff that results in positive
outcomes that support the mission of the organization.
Additionally, the Senior Director supports the council's Product
Program team to help expand sales revenue and program reach. As a
member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Director supports
the Co-CEOs and Board of Directors in realizing the vision and
strategic priorities set by the council. Reports to: Co-CEOsFLSA
Status: Regular, Full time, Exempt Essential Job Functions:
- Leads and manage a development team of four team members by
providing clear goals, coaching, and support
- Develop, implement, and deliver a comprehensive fundraising
plan that supports the council's strategic plan to include
corporate funding, individual gifts, and foundation and/or
government grants
- Cultivate philanthropic partnerships that result in funding
opportunities and/or expand
- Represent GSACPC externally at public appearances, speaking
engagements, meetings, and networking events
- Establish and track progress against annual fundraising
goals/budgets
- Serves as a Senior Leadership Team member
- Serves on the Council Strategy Refresh Team
- Advise and make recommendations to the CEOs, Leadership Team,
and Board of Directors on development strategy as it relates to
program and operations
- Engage Co-CEOs and other members of the Senior Leadership Team
as needed to participate in and support cultivation, solicitation,
stewardship, and grant management processes
- Actively manage full donor portfolio, including existing and
future corporate partners, individual donors, major gift donors,
and foundation contributors, as well as government grants
- Identify, cultivate, and develop new funding and revenue
opportunities by acquiring new philanthropic partners and expanding
or upgrading the existing donor base, with a focus building new
sources of unrestricted funding, expanding targeted operational
support and capital gifts that support mission delivery
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization,
mission, programs, activities, resources, and fundraising
needs
- Work collaboratively across the organization to ensure
effective stewardship of funders and partners and continually
improve the packaging of ongoing programs and services and develop
concepts and cases of support for new initiatives
- Provide on-going support the Product Program team to help
expand overall organizational revenue and depth of program
impact
- Active participation in developing a culture that fosters
diversity, equity, inclusion and access thought words, actions and
attitude.
- Other duties as assigned or needed to support organizational
capacity Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work/volunteer
experience
- 7+ years of development experience, including 3+ years of
management of a fund development team Skills & Abilities
- Understands thoughtful, donor-centered fundraising
environment
- Experience with strategic planning, capital campaigns, special
appeals, special events, and planned gifts
- Demonstrated ability to integrate data into decision-making and
strategy development
- Proven skills in securing major gifts and planned gifts
- Demonstrated ability to organize and direct complex work
assignments and create and carry out multi- faceted plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability
to organize complex concepts and to communicate to diverse
audiences including board members, community members, colleagues,
and donors to ensure the delivery of service excellence
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt
flexibly within a long-tenured organization
- Ability to use technology with solid skills using database
systems and Microsoft Office
- Willingness to fully participate in staff development
opportunities (when offered) and to take responsibility for
self-directed learning
- Willingness to acquire and actively use effective dialogue and
conflict management skills
